Other Stuart Products

In addition to the Western toys, Stuart made science sets and other toys. Dexter Balterman was a chemist before acquiring the Stuart company. I was told that he was very proud of his company's quality, affordable science sets. The large sets were Chemistry and Electricity ($3.00 sets). The $1.00 boxed sets included Invisible Writing, Polariscope, Electro Magnetism, Spectroscope, Chemical Wonders, Magnetic Energy, Optical Illusions, Electric Currents, and Static Electricity. Stuart also offered Blister Pack Science sets for store racks. The .59 cent blister pack sets were Chemical Changes, Secret Writing, Optical Illusions, Magnetic Power, Seeing Sound and Light Waves. The $1.00 blister pack sets were Photo Print Art, Secret Messages and Weather Watcher – Barometer. The $2.00 blister pack set was Skitter Skatter. (Prices were the suggested retail price.)

Other Stuart products included a Stuart's Wonder Wheel Designer (spirograph toy), a 36-inch long Bazooka, Spin-a-Plate (circus style), Jr. Gearshift, and Changeabout Doll Houses. Stuart also made a Stuart Prize Animal Farm set with a hard plastic horse, sheep, dog, cow and bull. Before the Western toys were made, Stuart was selling a series of children's night lights (see bottom photo).
